Export & Back Up Your AO3 Bookmarks (Free, No Password)

Worried about losing years of saved fics while AO3 is down? This free tool lets you back up your AO3 bookmarks and export your reading history to CSV, an EPUB reading list, or plain links. Enter your username to export public bookmarks, or use the local mode to export your history and private bookmarks, which stays on your own computer. We never ask for your AO3 password.

How it works

  1. Enter or install

Type your AO3 username for public bookmarks, or install the local tool for history and private bookmarks.

  2. Click export

The tool walks through your bookmark pages at a gentle, fixed speed while a progress bar shows how far along it is.

  3. Save your file

Download a CSV, an EPUB reading list preview, or plain links. The file is built in your browser and saved on your device.

After you export

Download AO3 fics to Kindle

The EPUB option is a reading list of titles and links (text preview for now), not the full text of each fic. You can open it and tap through to each work. To read full stories offline, use AO3's own download button on each work (EPUB, MOBI, PDF) and add those files to Kindle or Calibre.

Filter in a spreadsheet

Open the CSV in Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers to sort by word count, search tags, or find that one fic you bookmarked years ago.

Move to another site or reader

Use the plain links or CSV to rebuild your list in a reading app, a notes app, or another archive. You keep a copy that doesn't depend on any one website.

FAQ

Do I need my AO3 password?

No. Public bookmarks only need your username. Local mode runs in your own browser where you are already logged in, so we never see or ask for your password.

What formats can I export?

CSV for spreadsheets, an EPUB reading list text preview (titles and links), and plain-text links.

Can I export private bookmarks and my reading history?

Yes, with local mode. Because those pages are only visible when you are logged in, the export runs in your own browser and the file stays on your computer.

Why is the export slow?

We load one page at a time at a fixed, gentle speed so we don't overload AO3. If you have many bookmarks it can take several minutes. The progress bar shows how far along it is.

Is my data saved anywhere?

No. Export files are built in your browser and our server does not store them. There are no accounts and nothing is linked to you.

Will my bookmarks be lost while AO3 is down?

AO3 is currently offline. This tool helps you keep your own copy of your bookmarks and reading history once it is back, so your list doesn't depend on a single website.

How do I import my list into Kindle?

Download the reading list preview, then use Send to Kindle (app, web, or email) or add it to Calibre once a real EPUB is available. Remember it contains titles and links, not full stories.
